10-Year Prison Sentence for a Man Convicted of Forging a National ID in Minya
The Minya Criminal Court sentenced a man to ten years in prison for forging a national ID card with the assistance of a public employee acting in good faith.
The Minya Criminal Court has sentenced M.N.A. (38 years old), a resident of a village in Maghagha, to ten years of rigorous imprisonment after convicting him of forging an official document, specifically a national ID card. The court also ordered the confiscation of seized materials and obliged the defendant to pay legal expenses.
The session was presided over by Judge Salah El-Sharbiny, with Judges Mostafa Abdel-Azim Rahim and Mohamed Nagi Ahmed as members, and Marcos Nabil and Khaled Mohamed Abdel-Ghani as court secretaries.
According to investigations, the case dates back to early 2025, when the defendant – who holds no public office – aided a public employee in good faith at the Civil Status Authority. The assistance led to the forgery of an application form for obtaining a personal identification card and a national ID under the name of (A.M.A.).
The defendant presented forged documents, including a fake employment contract abroad, and counterfeited the official seal of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in addition to falsifying an employee’s signature to facilitate the forgery process.
Prosecutor Osama Abu El-Khair, Head of the North Minya Prosecution Office, referred the defendant in absentia to criminal trial, requesting that the Penal Code provisions be applied for the forgery of official documents.
