In a firm stance against drug trafficking, the South Sinai Criminal Court issued a verdict sentencing an unemployed man to ten years of hard labor and a fine of 50,000 Egyptian pounds after convicting him of possessing a large quantity of hashish with intent to trade in Ras Sidr.
Security forces had arrested the defendant during an anti-crime campaign, finding around ten bags filled with hashish in his possession. The seized drugs were confiscated and the suspect was referred to the Public Prosecution, which launched a full investigation into the case.
During trial sessions, the court reviewed testimonies and forensic reports, concluding that the charges against the first defendant were proven. The ruling came as a message that drug trafficking remains one of the most dangerous crimes threatening the safety of society and its youth.
At the same time, the court acquitted the defendant’s brother after determining that the evidence was insufficient to convict him, reaffirming that justice stands only with proven facts.
This verdict reflects ongoing efforts to combat narcotics, dry up their sources, and protect communities from a silent danger that destroys lives before bodies.
