3-Year Sentence for Worker Attempting Motorcycle Theft in New Assiut
Assiut Criminal Court sentenced a worker to 3 years in rigorous imprisonment for attempting to steal a motorcycle and injuring a citizen, based on thorough investigations and evidence.
The Third Circuit of Assiut Criminal Court sentenced 23-year-old worker Mahmoud M.S to 3 years of rigorous imprisonment for attempting to steal a motorcycle in the Beit Al-Aila area, First District, New Assiut, following conclusive investigations.
The incident occurred after local residents alerted Officer Omar Ehab, assistant of the New Assiut Police Department, about an attempted motorcycle theft. Upon arrival, authorities discovered that the suspect had drawn a knife and injured citizen Alaa M.M in his left hand while attempting to stop him.
The suspect was apprehended with the help of residents and admitted to the act. A formal police report was filed, and the Public Prosecutor referred the case to the Criminal Court, which sentenced him to 3 years in prison, charging him with attempted robbery by coercion and causing injury.
The court confirmed that the suspect acted deliberately, justifying the strict sentence, and emphasized the importance of maintaining security in residential areas and protecting citizens’ property.
