Egyptian singer Omar Kamal has filed an official complaint to the Public Prosecutor against an individual accused of posting offensive videos across social media platforms, including Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
According to the complaint, the videos contained insults, mockery of Kamal’s appearance and voice, and allegations harming his reputation and public image.
Kamal’s lawyer stated that the accused deliberately used social media to financially blackmail the singer, attacking artists who refuse to pay while praising those who comply with his demands, describing the behavior as criminal defamation and illegal profit-making.
The report noted that the videos were published publicly and viewed by large audiences inside and outside Egypt, causing serious damage to Omar Kamal’s artistic and social standing.
The defense submitted digital evidence containing the offensive clips, which include explicit harassment and reputational harm intended to pressure Kamal financially and distort his image before the public.
The complaint relies on penal code articles and cybercrime laws that criminalize online defamation and extortion, requesting legal action against the person responsible for publishing the content.
Kamal’s legal team affirmed confidence in the Egyptian judiciary to restore the singer’s rights and protect him from further abuse and online exploitation.
