Actor Fadi Khafaga’s Trial for Insulting Magdy Kamel Reserved for Verdict
The Economic Court has reserved the trial of Egyptian actor Fadi Khafaga, accused of insulting and defaming fellow actor Magdy Kamel, husband of actress Maha Ahmed, for verdict on November 24.
The Egyptian Economic Court decided to postpone the trial of actor Fadi Khafaga, charged with insulting and defaming actor Magdy Kamel, to November 24 for the final verdict. The case has drawn attention across the entertainment industry and social media.
According to investigations, Magdy Kamel filed a complaint against Khafaga, accusing him of publicly insulting him through social media platforms. The prosecution referred the case to the Economic Court on charges of public defamation and verbal abuse.
In recent months, Khafaga appeared in several TikTok live battles with influencers from Egypt and abroad, gaining significant online attention. In one session with a content creator named “Reem,” he jokingly said, “Didn’t I tell you my whole family are sheikhs?” after winning the challenge.
Over the past few years, Khafaga has shifted his focus toward TikTok content creation, stepping back from traditional acting roles. His latest appearance was in the 2024 series “Rose and Laila” alongside Yousra and Nelly Karim, and before that, in “Hadd Fasil” (Breaking Point) in 2023 with Nidal Al Shafei and Edward.
He also participated in the Gulf version of Hadd Fasil, playing the role of “Alaa,” alongside actors Turki Al Youssef, Shaimaa Al Fadl, and Reem Al Ali, written by Joseph Fawzi and directed by Saif Youssef.
The case reignited discussions about the balance between freedom of expression and responsibility on social media, particularly among public figures whose online behavior can directly impact their reputation and careers.
