Egyptian security authorities have enforced the prosecution’s decision by transferring businessman Amir El-Helaly, widely known as the “car scam” figure, from New Cairo Police Station to 15 May Prison to continue his detention pending investigations.
The transfer was carried out under tight security after completing all legal procedures, in preparation for placing the defendant in custody in accordance with investigative authorities’ instructions regarding the cases against him.
El-Helaly faces multiple charges related to fraud and illegally seizing large sums of money from citizens after claiming he would import vehicles through a company, without fulfilling contracts or returning the funds.
Lawyers for the victims confirmed that official investigations supported the victims’ statements and documents, proving systematic methods used to obtain money unlawfully.
They added that authorities are continuing to question the accused in newly added cases, as part of ongoing legal action aimed at holding him accountable and protecting victims’ rights.
