The competent investigative authorities have referred the grandmother, her sister and the children’s aunt to trial in connection with a case involving the alleged assault of children in Al-Saff, Giza Governorate, following the death of a one-month-old infant.
Details of the Al-Saff Infant Case
The incident began after Al-Saff Central Hospital reported receiving a one-month-old baby named Hussein suffering from severe fourth-degree breathing difficulties, along with three small puncture wounds on the left side of his chest.
Despite attempts to save the child, he died while medical teams were trying to provide emergency care, prompting authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
Examination of the Infant’s Body
An examination of the infant’s body found no other visible injuries apart from the puncture wounds on the left side of the chest, raising suspicions that the death may have involved a criminal element.
Family Statements During the Investigation
During questioning, the child’s 23-year-old mother, who works as a housewife, said she had been doing household chores and left the infant in one of the rooms.
She said she later heard the baby crying and, when she went to check on him, noticed bluish discoloration around his chest. She then informed the child’s father and grandfather before the baby was taken to hospital.
The child’s 26-year-old father, who works as a car body repairman, and the grandfather reportedly supported the mother’s account.
Investigation Reveals New Details
An inspection of the location found that the incident took place inside a two-story house covering an area of approximately 100 square meters.
