The Economic Court of Egypt has adjourned the second hearing in the trial of Essam Sasa to April 8, following accusations of intellectual property infringement.

The case stems from a complaint alleging that Sasa used the melody of the song Ala Bali, performed by Sherine Abdel Wahab, without obtaining prior authorization from the rightful owners.

According to the complaint, composer Wael Mohamed created the melody for “Habito Beni W Bena Nafsi,” featured on Sherine’s 2005 album Lazem A'eesh, and had legally assigned exploitation rights to her.

The complaint further claims that Sasa reused the same melody in his 2021 track Koloh Fare' Halet Tawaree, publishing it across social media platforms and generating financial returns, allegedly in violation of intellectual property law.

The upcoming April 8 session is expected to address the merits of the accusations and hear arguments from both the defense and prosecution.
