The Beheira Directorate of Supply and Internal Trade launched intensive inspection campaigns targeting municipal bakeries in Damanhour, Rosetta and Mahmoudiyah, as part of efforts to monitor bakery operations and ensure that subsidized goods reach eligible citizens.
The campaigns uncovered several supply violations, including the collection of citizens’ ration cards, the unauthorized disposal of subsidized flour and its sale on the black market, as well as violations involving bread weight and specifications.

The campaigns were led by Mohamed Hedaya, Undersecretary of the Directorate of Supply and Internal Trade, and Soheir Zaater, Deputy Director, in coordination with Supply Police.
The inspections focused on strengthening oversight of municipal bakeries and ensuring compliance with supply regulations, particularly those governing subsidized flour and citizens’ ration cards.
1,350 Ration Cards Seized in Damanhour
Bakery accused of collecting cards for profit
In Damanhour, inspectors seized a bakery holding 1,350 ration cards belonging to citizens allegedly for profit.
The necessary legal procedures were initiated, and the case was referred to the Public Prosecution for further action.
Inspectors also seized another bakery that had disposed of 15 sacks of subsidized flour and allegedly sold them on the black market.
Underweight Bread Violations in Damanhour
The campaign in Damanhour also resulted in reports being filed against 10 bakeries for producing underweight bread.
The maximum shortage recorded reached 19 grams per loaf, and the necessary legal measures were taken regarding the violations.
Inspections in Rosetta and Mahmoudiyah
More underweight bread violations uncovered
In Rosetta and Mahmoudiyah, inspectors seized one bakery for producing bread that was 23 grams under the required weight per loaf.
Another 11 bakeries were found producing underweight bread, with shortages reaching 18 grams per loaf.
Inspectors also seized a bakery that had disposed of five sacks of subsidized baladi flour and allegedly sold them on the black market.
Bread Specifications and Inspection Records
The campaigns also uncovered a bakery producing bread that did not meet the required legal specifications.
A report was also filed against another bakery for failing to maintain the required inspection and visit record.
The inspection campaigns are part of continued oversight of municipal bakeries to address violations that could affect bread quality or prevent subsidized goods from reaching eligible citizens.
