Security authorities in Giza released blogger Norhan Hefzy after the Court of Appeal acquitted her of drug use charges, overturning the previous ruling that sentenced her to two years in prison with a bail of 10,000 EGP.

Norhan Hefzy completed all release procedures and was discharged from Al-Haram Police Station after receiving official clearance from the prosecution.

The case originated when authorities in Giza detained Norhan Hefzy following accusations of publishing indecent videos, inciting immorality, and possession of ice drugs. She was referred to the public prosecution, which investigated the matter and sent her to the criminal court.

After reviewing the appeal, the Court of Appeal in Al-Haram acquitted her of all charges, closing a legal file that had attracted significant public attention.
