Asmaa Moussa, an ENPPI employee and victim of a serious traffic accident in Borg El Arab, has called on the authorities to arrest the driver involved in the incident and enforce a six-month prison sentence reportedly issued against him.

Borg El Arab Victim Describes the Accident

Asmaa Moussa said the accident occurred in February 2024, when she was struck by a microbus in the Borg El Arab area of Alexandria.

According to her account, the driver ran over her more than once despite knowing that she was underneath the vehicle. He then allegedly left the scene, leaving her in critical condition before she was transported by ambulance to a hospital.

She said the accident caused severe injuries to her spine, pelvis, spinal cord and skull, requiring her to undergo several surgical and reconstructive procedures.

Six-Month Prison Sentence

Moussa said she obtained an in-absentia six-month prison sentence against the defendant and is now calling for the ruling to be enforced and the driver to be arrested.

She added that she has undergone numerous surgeries and continues to require additional medical and surgical treatment because of the injuries sustained in the accident.

She also called for compensation and for her employer to cover her medical expenses, arguing that the incident should be treated as a work-related injury.

Details of the Borg El Arab Crash

The incident took place on the Borg El Arab road in Alexandria, near the MIDOR company and within the jurisdiction of the Second Amreya Police Department.

According to details cited in the case, Asmaa Fathy Mohamed Ahmed Moussa was standing by the roadside when a taxi struck her while reversing. The vehicle then reportedly moved forward while she was underneath it, according to an eyewitness account.

An ambulance transported the injured woman to Amreya General Hospital before she was transferred to another medical facility because of the seriousness of her condition.

Severe Injuries Following the Accident

Medical examinations reportedly showed that Moussa suffered a concussion and multiple fractures involving the spine, rib cage and pelvis.

The severity of her injuries resulted in her being placed in intensive care, where she reportedly fell into a coma before undergoing several surgical procedures.

According to the case details, police registered the incident under report No. 1765 of 2024 at Amreya Misdemeanors, and the Public Prosecution was notified to conduct its investigation. The investigation also reportedly found that the driver did not hold a valid driving license.

Victim Calls for Arrest and Compensation

Moussa is calling for the enforcement of the court ruling against the driver, as well as securing her legal rights regarding medical treatment and compensation for the injuries she suffered.

Her appeal comes as she continues to deal with the consequences of the accident and faces the need for further surgeries and medical care.
