Cairo security authorities arrested a husband accused of taking his wife’s car in the Basatin area following marital disputes between the couple.
The incident came after authorities monitored a social media post in which a user complained that someone had taken his daughter’s car in Cairo.
Marital Dispute and Agreement
Authorities identified the vehicle’s owner, a housewife residing within the jurisdiction of the Basatin Police Department.
When questioned, she said she had filed a complaint against her husband following marital disputes that eventually led to an agreement to divorce.
She explained that the agreement involved her waiving the furniture list in exchange for her husband transferring ownership of the car to her. A power of attorney for the sale was subsequently documented.
Husband Arrested and Car Recovered
The woman said she was later surprised when her husband allegedly took the car by deception and fled with it.
Following intensified investigations, security authorities identified and arrested the husband, who was found to reside within the jurisdiction of the Bab El-Shaaria Police Department.
The vehicle involved in the incident was also found in his possession.
Husband Admits Taking the Car
When confronted, the husband reportedly admitted to committing the incident as described.
He stated that he had taken the car on September 12 from a street within the jurisdiction of the Basatin Police Department, near the residence of his wife’s family.
A report was filed, and the Public Prosecution took over the investigation.
