A tragic incident occurred in El-Salam, Cairo, where a 7-year-old child died inside an elevator of a residential building after returning from school, causing shock and grief among local residents.
Police received an urgent report of the child’s death inside the elevator, and a security team immediately went to the scene to investigate. Initial investigations revealed that the child’s foot slipped between the elevator wall and cabin, trapping and crushing him instantly as the elevator moved, leading to his immediate death.
The child’s body was transferred to the hospital under the supervision of the Public Prosecution, which ordered a precise autopsy to determine the cause of death. Investigators also examined the elevator to ensure its safety and checked for any negligence by the building management or maintenance company.
Residents expressed deep sorrow and anger, calling on authorities to intensify inspections of old elevators and mandate regular maintenance to protect lives and prevent similar tragic accidents in the future.
