The Court of Cassation on Tuesday reserved the ruling on the appeal submitted by director Omar Zehran against his prison sentence in connection with the alleged theft of jewelry belonging to artist Shalimar Sharbatly, wife of director Khaled Youssef, for May 19.
During previous sessions, Zehran’s defense team, including Justice Mortada Mansour and Justice Sherif Hafez, submitted detailed memoranda citing reasons for the appeal, pleading for his acquittal and requesting the court to accept the appeal.
Earlier, the Giza Misdemeanor Appeals Court had reduced Zehran’s prison sentence in January 2025 from two years to one year with labor, while upholding the civil ruling obliging him to pay 40,000 EGP as temporary compensation to the plaintiff.
