Zagazig Criminal Court decided to refer the papers of the defendant accused of killing his coworker in 10th of Ramadan City to Egypt’s Grand Mufti to obtain the religious opinion on the death sentence, and scheduled March 8 for the final verdict.

The decision comes after reviewing the case that drew attention in the industrial city, where a barber was killed inside his own shop following a dispute with his colleague over work-related issues that escalated into a violent attack.

Security authorities had received a report of a 40-year-old barbershop owner arriving at the hospital with critical injuries. He later died as a result of those wounds. Police forces immediately moved to the scene and found that a verbal dispute had erupted between the victim and the 33-year-old suspect, also a barber, due to professional disagreements.

Investigations revealed that the suspect went to the victim’s barbershop in District 8 of 10th of Ramadan City and assaulted him with a weapon while he was working, causing fatal injuries that led to his death.

After legal procedures were completed, police arrested the defendant and seized the weapon used in the crime. The body was transferred to the hospital under the supervision of investigators, who later referred the case to the criminal court, which issued its decision to send the papers to the Grand Mufti ahead of the final ruling.
