محكمة جنايات القاهرة تؤيد حكم حبس المتهمين في قضية رشوة شركة مياه أسوان

The Cairo Criminal Appeals Court has issued its final ruling in the case publicly known as the “Aswan Water Company Bribery Case”, rejecting the defendants’ appeal and affirming the lower court’s decision that sentenced the first defendant to 15 years in prison and the second to 5 years.

During the session, the Public Prosecution representative stated that the defendants abused their official positions within the Aswan Water and Wastewater Company to obtain unlawful financial benefits by soliciting and accepting bribes in exchange for facilitating project awards and supply deals to private entities.

The prosecution emphasized that the evidence presented was conclusive, confirming that the main defendant, in his capacity as the company chairman, exploited his authority for personal gain, which constitutes a serious breach of trust and corruption against public funds.

The case was registered under No. 2666 of 2023 – Supreme State Security Prosecution, and No. 388 of 2023 – Supreme State Security Felonies, under the supervision of Counselor Khaled Diaa El-Din, the First Attorney General of the Supreme State Security Prosecution.

The defendants in the case include:

Yahia A. A. A., 58, Chairman of Aswan Water and Wastewater Company.

Mohamed S. A., 48, Employee in the Contracts and Procurement Department.

Amr M. N., 38, Accountant and Legal Representative of the Cooperative Association for Construction and Reconstruction in Aswan.

Hatem M. A., 32, Civil Engineer and Owner of Sky Contracting Company.

Alaa El-Din M. A. A., 46, Owner of the International Office for Supplies.

Randa G. S., 40, Deputy Director of the International Industries Company.

This final ruling reflects Egypt’s firm stance on combating corruption and safeguarding public funds.
