A daughter has filed a lawsuit before the Cairo Family Court against her brother, seeking an order requiring him to contribute to their father’s expenses after his health and financial circumstances deteriorated and he became in need of continuous medical treatment and care.

The lawsuit concerns the father’s growing need for financial support due to his Alzheimer’s condition and declining ability to meet his own needs, while his daughter says she can no longer afford to cover the expenses alone.

Daughter Turns to Family Court Over Her Father’s Expenses

The case involves a father whose financial circumstances deteriorated after the closure of the shop where he worked in the business of changing car tires, oils and batteries.

At the same time, he began suffering from intermittent Alzheimer’s symptoms, leaving him in need of ongoing medical treatment, care and financial support.

According to the lawsuit, the daughter said she was unable to cover her father’s treatment and living expenses on her own because of her financial circumstances.

She therefore turned to the Family Court seeking her brother’s contribution toward their father’s expenses.

Son Allegedly Has the Financial Ability to Contribute

The daughter stated that her brother works in the same field he learned from their father and has improved his financial circumstances.

She also said that the relationship between her brother and their father had deteriorated, leaving the father without the financial support and care he needs.

Relative Maintenance Claim Filed on Behalf of the Father

The Family Court is considering the lawsuit seeking an order requiring the son to provide relative maintenance for his father.

The requested maintenance is expected to be assessed in light of the father’s needs, his health condition and the son’s financial ability.

The daughter said her father requires regular medication and treatment and that she cannot bear the expenses alone, prompting her to seek judicial intervention to require her brother to share responsibility for their father’s care.

Father’s Lawyer Seeks Maintenance Based on His Needs

Lawyer Noha El-Gendy, representing the father, said that the son’s alleged conduct, according to her client’s account, amounts to a form of neglect, particularly because the father raised his son and taught him the profession in which he currently works.

She added that the father was only asking his son to help cover his medical and living expenses amid his Alzheimer’s condition and deteriorating financial circumstances.

The lawyer explained that the daughter was forced to seek legal intervention after confirming that she could not cover her father’s expenses alone.

She said the defense is asking the court to determine an appropriate maintenance amount that reflects the father’s needs, health condition and the son’s financial capacity, pending the court’s decision in the case.
