The case follows an incident in which the suspect was accused of verbally abusing and threatening the two guards while allegedly carrying a white weapon.
Details of the Attack on the Security Guards
Egypt’s Ministry of Interior previously announced that it had examined a social media post accompanied by a video showing a person allegedly assaulting two administrative security guards, verbally abusing them and threatening to harm them while holding a white weapon inside a residential compound in New Cairo.
Authorities identified the two security guards shown in the video. During questioning, they reportedly said they were seeking legal action against a resident of a building in the same residential area within the jurisdiction of the First Settlement Police Department.
Security Guards Describe the Incident
According to their statements, the resident had allegedly repeatedly verbally abused passersby and residents and shouted inside his apartment.
They said that while they were carrying out their duties on August 24, they were surprised when the suspect allegedly assaulted them verbally and physically and threatened to harm them while holding a white weapon.
The guards said the incident occurred because the suspect objected to children playing beneath his residential building, claiming that their activities were disturbing him.
Suspect and Weapon Taken Into Custody
Security authorities identified and arrested the person involved, who resides within the jurisdiction of the relevant police department.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the white weapon allegedly used in the incident was recovered after the suspect guided authorities to it.
When confronted, he reportedly admitted committing the incident as described, citing the presence of children beneath the building as the reason for his actions.

The Fifth Settlement court is scheduled to review the suspect’s detention on September 10 as part of the legal proceedings arising from the incident.
