Economic Court Acquits Bahaa Sultan’s Wife, Dismisses Civil Claim
The Economic Court ruled to acquit the wife of singer Bahaa Sultan from defamation and insult charges stemming from a family dispute and dismissed the related civil claim.
The Economic Court cleared the wife of singer Bahaa Sultan of charges of defamation and insult following a family dispute that extended to social media.
The complainant had filed a case alleging that the singer’s wife sent offensive text and voice messages via WhatsApp, which included insults and defamation. After reviewing the case, authorities referred it to the Economic Court for judgment.
Separately, the court fined another defendant 10,000 EGP for insulting and defaming actress Berlanti Fouad on social media, emphasizing that words carry responsibility and that justice does not tolerate any form of defamation or abuse.
