Egypt's Ministry of Interior has clarified the circumstances surrounding a viral social media video alleging that a man assaulted his wife and children, sold household belongings, and took money from his family due to drug abuse.
Investigation Reveals the Facts
Authorities confirmed that no official report had been filed regarding the incident. Investigators later identified the woman in the video as a housewife living in Alexandria's Second Raml police district.
Wife's Statement
The woman stated that her husband verbally and physically assaulted her at their home following a family dispute after she asked him to look for work. She clarified that the incident occurred on the third day of the current month.
She denied claims that her husband assaulted their children or sold the household furniture, explaining that her daughter recorded and shared the video online out of concern for her mother's safety.
Suspect Arrested
Police identified and arrested the suspect, who is unemployed and has a previous criminal record. During questioning, he admitted assaulting his wife because of the same family dispute. Legal proceedings have been initiated.
Separate Incident in Beni Suef
In another case, the Ministry also revealed the details of a viral video showing several individuals attacking a driver with bladed weapons before an off-duty police officer intervened and arrested two suspects on the spot.

Investigations found that the altercation began over a right-of-way dispute. Police later arrested the remaining suspects, seized two bladed weapons and the vehicles involved, and completed the required legal procedures.
