Egyptian security authorities successfully tracked two criminals attempting to legitimize huge sums of money acquired from drug trafficking, with the laundered amount estimated at around 70 million EGP.
Investigations revealed that the suspects tried to hide the illicit source of their funds and give them a legal appearance by investing in real estate, vehicles, and motorcycles to mislead authorities about the origin of the wealth.
Additionally, the General Administration for the Control of Unlicensed Weapons and Ammunition identified another criminal in Qena who laundered money from illegal arms trading through real estate, vehicles, and establishing business activities, with an estimated value of 50 million EGP.
All necessary legal measures were taken against the suspects in both cases, and the Public Prosecution was notified to proceed with investigations, reflecting ongoing efforts to combat illicit wealth and safeguard society from financial crimes.
