Cairo authorities have referred the ex-husband of singer Rahma Mohsen to criminal court, following accusations of leaking videos that defamed the singer on social media platforms, causing widespread controversy.
The ex-husband was arrested and held in custody after Rahma Mohsen’s lawyer, Mahmoud El-Sheshtawy, filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor, accusing him and other involved parties of defamation, slander, and spreading false news.
The complaint stated that on November 8, 2025, the singer was shocked to find a video broadcast on a TV channel containing offensive statements about her personal life, which was also shared on the channel and the presenter’s social media accounts, leading to widespread dissemination and public backlash against her and her family.
