The competent court has set February 26 as the date for the first hearing in the trial of Ahmed Ragab, who faces charges of insulting and defaming a businessman, in Case No. 4 of 2026 (Economic Misdemeanor – Rod El Farag), registered under No. 123 of 2026 for legal review.
According to the referral order, the defendant allegedly used his personal account on a social media platform to publish statements and content considered offensive to honor and reputation, actions that could harm the victim’s public image and social standing.
The case file also states that Ragab deliberately harassed and disturbed the complainant and misused communication tools, relying on his online account to commit acts of defamation, insult, and digital harassment in violation of the law.
The court is examining the case as part of broader efforts to confront cybercrimes targeting individuals through digital platforms, which increasingly threaten personal reputation and privacy.
