From Tuk-Tuk to Prison Cell: 15-Year Sentence for Hashish Driver in Shubra El-Kheima
An Egyptian court sentences a tuk-tuk driver to 15 years in prison and a fine of EGP 200,000 for possessing and trading hashish in Shubra El-Kheima, Qalyubia.
In a decisive verdict that marks the end of a major drug case in Qalyubia Governorate, the Shubra El-Kheima Criminal Court sentenced a 27-year-old tuk-tuk driver, Islam M. A. A., to 15 years in prison and a fine of EGP 200,000 for possessing and trading hashish.
The verdict was issued under the chairmanship of Judge Ayman Fouad Fahmy, with Judges Ayman Hussein Hamdan, Hossam Hemam El-Adly, Haitham Helmy Ali, and Mohamed Ali Hammouda, and court clerk Ihab Suleiman.
According to the prosecution, the accused was arrested in Case No. 10834/2025 (First Shubra El-Kheima), registered as No. 2348/2025 (South Banha Felony), after being caught with quantities of hashish intended for trafficking and personal use.
Investigations revealed that the defendant used his tuk-tuk to distribute narcotics around the Um Bayoumi and Gamal El-Nour Street areas before his arrest.
The ruling represents a strong judicial stance against drug trafficking, as part of Egypt’s continuous efforts to combat narcotics and protect youth from addiction.
