Egypt's Ministry of Interior has revealed the circumstances surrounding a viral social media post accompanied by a video in which a woman complained that her husband and his brother stormed her home and took away their three-year-old daughter against her will in Gharbia Governorate.

Police launched an investigation after monitoring the widely circulated post.

Mother's Complaint

Authorities said that on the 18th of the current month, the woman filed a report at Tanta Police Center, accusing her husband, who has a criminal record, and his brother of verbally and physically assaulting her.

She also alleged that they damaged the door of the marital home and took their daughter by force due to ongoing marital disputes.

Suspects' Statements

Later that day, the husband and his brother appeared at the police station accompanied by the child.

During questioning, both admitted to the incident, explaining that it stemmed from marital disputes.

The husband stated that he took his daughter because his wife suffers from psychological illnesses, while also accusing her of verbally insulting him and his brother.

Prosecution Decision

Police completed the necessary legal procedures and referred the case to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.
