The security authorities at Egypt’s Ministry of Interior have revealed the details behind a video circulating on social media, showing a young woman making an obscene hand gesture toward another person inside a metro station in Giza.
Investigations confirmed that no official complaints had been filed regarding the incident. However, through analysis and inquiries, authorities were able to identify the girl appearing in the video, who turned out to be a student residing in the Nasr City district of Cairo.
When questioned, the suspect admitted that she was filming a video inside the metro station on October 14, when a member of the administrative security staff warned her that filming was not allowed. She then made the inappropriate gesture as a joke while recording the clip.
The Ministry of Interior stated that legal measures have been taken against the suspect, and she will be referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.
