The court is set to resume today the trial of Mohamed Helmy, the manager of popular Mahraganat singer Hamo Bika, on charges of defrauding a car dealership owner of EGP 1.1 million.
According to the case file, the dealership owner filed a complaint at Agouza Police Station, accusing Helmy of fraud after he allegedly failed to honor three checks issued as payment for a vehicle purchase. Legal measures were taken, and the case was referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.
This case comes as Hamo Bika himself continues to face legal troubles. Earlier, the Qasr El-Nil Misdemeanor Court upheld a one-year prison sentence and a fine of EGP 500 against the singer, after rejecting his appeal in a case involving possession of a bladed weapon.
It is worth noting that the court had previously issued a one-year prison sentence in absentia against Bika for the same charge, which was later confirmed.
