The Interior Ministry has clarified the circumstances of a video circulated on social media in which a woman claimed her son was arrested unlawfully and that her family faced abuses inside a police station in Minya, including alleged videos and audio recordings showing physical injuries.
Investigations revealed the claims were false. The accused and his family have prior criminal records. On January 13, following legal procedures, the authorities arrested her son, a previously convicted criminal in cases involving possession of firearms and ammunition, drug trafficking, and assault, with a five-year sentence for drug-related offenses. Authorities found a locally made firearm and a quantity of ice drug in his possession.
The Ministry emphasized that all procedures were conducted legally, and the Public Prosecution took over the investigation. The video submitted by the family was included in the investigations and showed law enforcement carrying out the prosecution’s order without any violations. The prosecution ordered the suspect’s pre-trial detention.
