The Egyptian Ministry of Interior has released an official statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding a viral video that showed a violent knife fight in Al-Hawamdia, Giza, sparking public concern across social media platforms.
According to investigations, the incident began when an accountant and his wife, both residents of the area, filed a report accusing two students and a painter of harassing the woman while she was walking down the street. The confrontation quickly escalated into a heated argument, followed by a physical altercation.
The suspects reportedly used knives and sharp tools to intimidate the victims and later caused deliberate damage to the man’s car as an act of retaliation.
Security forces swiftly identified and arrested the perpetrators. During questioning, the accused admitted to committing the assault and vandalism, stating that the incident stemmed from a personal dispute.
Authorities confiscated the weapons used in the attack and filed an official report before referring the case to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.
The Ministry emphasized that law enforcement will continue its efforts to combat violence and criminal behavior, asserting that any act of intimidation or street aggression will be met with strict legal action.
