Human Remains Found Inside Apartment

Security authorities in Alexandria arrested a lawyer suspected of killing and dismembering her elderly mother inside a rented apartment in the Sidi Bishr district. The incident has shocked residents, while prosecutors continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the case.

The investigation began after residents reported foul odors coming from an apartment in the area.

Discovery Inside the Apartment

After obtaining legal authorization, police entered the apartment and discovered human remains in different locations.

Additional Body Parts Recovered

Investigators found more body parts inside the kitchen refrigerator and freezer, along with blood traces. Authorities also seized a knife and scissors bearing suspected biological evidence, which were sent for forensic examination.

Preliminary Investigations

According to preliminary investigations, the apartment was rented by the suspect, who lived there with her elderly mother, reportedly suffering from Alzheimer's disease and age-related illnesses.

Police later located and arrested the suspect after she had been absent from the apartment for several days.

Neighbors' Testimonies

Neighbors stated they had noticed strong odors coming from the apartment for days. When questioned, the suspect reportedly claimed the smell came from spoiled fish or rotten meat stored inside the refrigerator.

Residents became increasingly suspicious after the odors intensified and the suspect disappeared, prompting them to notify authorities.

Some neighbors also mentioned frequent arguments inside the apartment in recent weeks.

Prosecutors Continue Investigation

The First Montazah Prosecution Office ordered a forensic autopsy to determine the cause and timing of death, requested further police investigations, ordered witness interviews, and instructed authorities to review nearby surveillance camera footage.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no final judicial ruling has been issued. The allegations are still under examination, and criminal responsibility will be determined based on the evidence and the court's final decision.
