The Cairo New Capital Criminal Court today heard the defense of the 13th defendant in the major drug case involving producer Sarah Khalifa and 27 others.
The lawyer emphasized that his client has no involvement in drug trafficking and that the charges are based on the investigation of a judicial officer, which in turn relied on the statements of a colleague in the General Administration for Drug Control, casting doubt on the crime’s validity.
The defense pointed out discrepancies between official records and reality, noting that the report claimed the defendant was caught at the entrance of his residence, while in fact, he was inside his home with his wife and child.
The lawyer also highlighted that the defendant was coerced into confessing and stressed his client’s financial limitations, sarcastically adding: "He bought a car in installments—how could he be trafficking drugs?"
