Lawyer of Woman in Adi Dabbagh Ad Case: My Client Suffered Damage and Seeks Legal Compensation
The court held the second session of the lawsuit filed by a woman against Zamalek Club’s president and media official after her phone number appeared in the promotional video introducing footballer Adi Dabbagh. Her lawyer demanded that the telecom company be included in the case and provide ownership documents of the phone line.
The civil court convened today, Tuesday, for the second hearing in the lawsuit filed by a woman against the president of Zamalek Sporting Club and the club’s media representative. The lawsuit seeks financial compensation for psychological and moral damages after her private phone number appeared in the club’s official advertisement introducing player Adi Dabbagh.
The plaintiff attended the hearing accompanied by her lawyer, Mohamed El-Hosary, who requested that the telecom company be added as a party to the case to compel it to present the ownership contract of the phone line shown in the ad. He explained that his client had received dozens of harassing calls following the advertisement, causing her significant distress.
According to case file No. 5025 Civil, the woman’s phone number was used without her permission, constituting a clear violation of privacy and personal data protection, warranting compensation for the damages sustained. The lawyer also stated that the telecom company refused to provide ownership documents for the phone line despite official requests.
The plaintiff’s attorney clarified that the case is not motivated by money but by the desire to assert her legal rights and restore her dignity, adding that the compensation amount has not been set at 20 million pounds as rumored. The court will determine the value based on verified damages.
He concluded that his client’s primary aim is to uphold her privacy and prevent the misuse of personal information in media or promotional materials, describing the lawsuit as a vital step toward ensuring privacy rights within Egypt’s media and sports sectors.
