The Cairo Economic Court has set December 27 as the date for dancer Lynda’s appeal hearing, following her one-year prison sentence for posting indecent videos and images on her social media accounts.
Lynda was convicted after the court found that she had shared explicit content considered offensive to public morals, including provocative dance videos and photos that violated societal and family values.
According to investigations, the Public Prosecution in Cairo referred the dancer—known publicly as “Lynda”—to trial before the Economic Court on charges of inciting debauchery and undermining family principles, based on digital evidence gathered from her social media pages.
Authorities confirmed that the defendant had been posting provocative videos regularly to attract viewers and generate income through online platforms, actions deemed a serious breach of public decency laws.
The court is set to review the appeal submitted by Lynda’s legal team seeking to overturn or reduce the sentence, as the case continues to draw significant attention amid growing scrutiny of indecent online content.
