The Cairo Criminal Court has adjourned the first hearing in the trial of a woman accused of killing her husband in the widely known “Marj Groom” incident to June 7, pending the testimony of the forensic doctor and review of technical reports.
During the investigation, the defendant gave her statements in a question-and-answer format as follows:
Q: What caused the victim’s injury?
A: He moved my hand while I was holding the knife to cut cucumbers, and as he stepped back he fell. I saw blood on the knife and threw it away in panic.
Q: What did you do afterward?
A: I got scared and didn’t know what to do. I opened the door and called his sister, and we took him to the hospital.
Q: Who was with you?
A: His sister, Shimaa.
Q: How many stab wounds did he have?
A: I don’t know, but it was probably one.
Q: Where was the injury located?
A: I only saw blood coming from his chest.
Q: What was the weapon?
A: A small kitchen knife with a pink plastic handle used for cutting cucumbers.
Q: Where did you get it from?
A: It was my kitchen knife.
The Public Prosecution continues its investigation while awaiting the forensic report in the next session.
