The Economic Court has decided to postpone the compensation lawsuit filed by journalist Miar El-Beblawi against Sheikh Mohamed Aboubakr, demanding EGP 5.7 million, to March 8 for re-announcement.
The case involves accusations that Sheikh Mohamed Aboubakr publicly insulted and defamed Miar El-Beblawi through a recorded video posted on his social media account. The court sentenced him to two months in prison with suspension, fined him EGP 20,000, and ordered a provisional civil compensation of EGP 50,000.
The court also fined Miar El-Beblawi EGP 20,000 due to the exchange of offensive language between both parties on social media.
The court clarified that Sheikh Mohamed Aboubakr was acquitted of some other accusations, while his lawyer highlighted that the complaint was filed under a pseudonym, which may affect its legal validity.
