The Minya Criminal Court has referred the papers of the defendant, Hagar A.A., known as “the Delga family killer,” to the Grand Mufti for a legal opinion on her execution after she was found guilty of killing her husband and six children using a poisonous substance.

The session, chaired by Judge Alaa El-Din Mohamed Abbas and attended by Judges Hussein Ali Negida, Ahmed Mohamed Nasr, and Amr Nasif Tahoun, along with Prosecutor Saeed Abdel-Gawad, reviewed forensic reports and agricultural analyses of the toxic chemical Chlorophenapyr, as well as witness testimonies and final arguments from both sides.

Investigations confirmed that the 26-year-old defendant poisoned her husband and six children between July 6 and 25, 2025, at their home in Delga village, Deir Mawas district, by mixing the toxin into their food. She also attempted to poison her husband’s first wife in a similar way but failed.

The court has referred the case to the Grand Mufti for a legal opinion regarding the death penalty, with the defendant to remain in custody until the final judgment session.
