Minya Governor Major General Emad Kedwany has directed continued food and market inspection campaigns targeting bakeries, markets, commercial shops and fuel stations.
The campaigns aim to ensure compliance with regulations, verify the quality and validity of products, and prevent the manipulation or illegal withholding of subsidized and strategic commodities.
Large Quantities of Food Unfit for Consumption Seized
Inspection teams seized an unlicensed food storage facility containing large quantities of products unfit for human consumption, with the total amount exceeding 8 tons.
The seized products included 6 tons and 480 kilograms of local ghee, 1 ton and 247 kilograms of poultry pieces and parts, and 965 kilograms of mozzarella cheese.
The seizure also included 30 kilograms of mortadella and pastrami, 15 kilograms of duck, and 100 cartons of expired potato chips.
The seized products were placed under official custody, and the necessary legal procedures were initiated.
Subsidized Flour Seized Before Black-Market Sale
As part of efforts to combat illegal trading in subsidized commodities, inspection teams seized four sacks of subsidized baladi flour before they could be sold on the black market.
Legal measures were taken against the violators as authorities continue efforts to prevent manipulation of subsidized and strategic goods.
54 Reports Issued Over Market Violations
Inspection campaigns targeting markets and commercial shops resulted in 54 reports for various violations.
The violations included 13 reports involving products of unknown origin. Authorities seized 3 tons of cement, half a ton of free-market white flour, 250 kilograms of animal feed, 118 bales of soft drinks, 500 cigarette packs, and quantities of meat.
Another report was issued over the display of expired products unfit for human consumption, with quantities of meat seized.
Authorities also issued a report for slaughtering outside government-approved slaughterhouses and seized quantities of locally produced meat.
Health Certificates and Price Display Violations
The campaigns also resulted in 29 reports for failing to carry valid health certificates and 13 reports for failing to display prices.
The relevant authorities took the required legal measures against the violators.
