The Economic Court has postponed the first trial session of actor Mohamed Ramadan, accused of insulting a prominent journalist and misusing social media, to April 7 to allow the attendance of his lawyer.
Investigations revealed that Mohamed Ramadan allegedly aimed to harass the journalist through his actions on social media, including misuse of communication devices and posting content offensive to the complainant.
Previously, authorities referred the journalist’s complaints against Mohamed Ramadan to criminal prosecution, with the first session initially scheduled for December 20 at the Economic Court.
The dispute began after the journalist criticized Ramadan on-air following a video he posted on Instagram, showing himself throwing dollars into a swimming pool. The journalist commented: “You are your own enemy, throwing money in a country where people are struggling. What we thought was Moses turned out to be Pharaoh.”
