The Cairo Economic Court has postponed the trial of Mohamed Waziry, the former business manager of singer Haifa Wehbe, in the money laundering case against him until September 15.

The court also ordered the defendant to appear in person at the next hearing.

Why Was the Trial Postponed?

The postponement was issued to allow implementation of a previous court decision requiring additional official documents before proceedings continue.

The court had instructed the Public Prosecution and the defense team to submit an official certificate from the Court of Cassation regarding the appeal in the original criminal case.

Details of the Money Laundering Case

The Economic Court is examining the money laundering charges filed against Mohamed Waziry, which are legally connected to an earlier criminal case.

The court is awaiting the outcome of the appeal process before moving forward with the trial.

Defense Requests Acquittal

During the first hearing, Mohamed Waziry appeared before the Fifth Economic Criminal Circuit.

His legal team argued that the essential elements of the money laundering offense were not established and requested that he be acquitted.

Defense Requests Delay Pending Appeal

As an alternative request, the defense asked the court to postpone the proceedings until the Court of Cassation rules on the appeal related to the previous embezzlement case.

The defense also argued that Waziry had already served the sentence imposed in the earlier case, claiming this affects the legal basis of the current charges.

When is the next hearing in Mohamed Waziry's case?

The next hearing is scheduled for September 15.

Why was the trial postponed?

The court postponed the case to obtain official documents related to the appeal in the original criminal case.

Did Mohamed Waziry attend the hearings?

Yes. He attended the first hearing in person and has been ordered to appear at the next session.

What is the defense's position?

The defense requested an acquittal, arguing that the legal elements of money laundering have not been established, and asked for a delay until the appeal is decided.
