The New Cairo Criminal Court, sitting in Fifth Settlement, has scheduled September 12 for the first hearing of footballer Nasser Maher’s opposition against an absentee six-month prison sentence.

The case relates to allegations that the Zamalek player assaulted a security guard.

Security Guard’s Lawyer Seeks EGP 3 Million Compensation

The defense lawyer representing the security guard involved in the case revealed new developments following Nasser Maher’s arrest in New Cairo in connection with the execution of the court ruling.

Lawyer Hossam Fares said his client sustained injuries to his right hand, adding that the defense plans to seek civil compensation of EGP 3 million from the player and Pyramids FC for the damages allegedly suffered by the victim.

Defense Claims Permanent Disability

The lawyer stated that, according to the medical report, the victim suffered an injury that could constitute a permanent disability in his right hand.

The defense is therefore seeking further medical examinations to determine the extent and consequences of the injury.

Defense Requests Forensic Medical Examination

The security guard’s defense is expected to request that the victim be examined by a forensic medicine committee during the proceedings.

The examination would assess the injuries, determine their impact, and establish the percentage of any permanent disability, as part of the defense’s compensation claim.

According to the case documents, the prosecution referred the defendant to trial over an alleged assault, under Article 242 of the Egyptian Penal Code.

The medical report documented injuries sustained by the complainant and stated that the treatment period would not exceed 20 days.
