A state of concern spread in the historic district of Al-Gamaliya near Al-Hussein Mosque after a partial collapse struck a three-story residential building, highlighting ongoing risks tied to aging structures in densely populated areas.
Initial inspections revealed that the collapse was limited to the rear section of the building, preventing further structural damage and avoiding any human casualties or injuries.
Emergency and civil protection teams rushed to the scene, securing the area with a safety perimeter and deploying equipment to stabilize the situation and ensure public safety during inspection operations.
Authorities continue to assess the building’s structural condition and investigate the causes behind the incident, while taking precautionary measures to prevent similar occurrences nearby.
In a separate but similar incident, another residential building collapse occurred earlier in Fayoum. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the building was unoccupied at the time.
Such incidents raise growing concerns about the condition of older buildings and the urgent need for maintenance, monitoring, and preventive safety measures in crowded urban areas.
