The Cairo Criminal Court received the report prepared by a three-member forensic psychiatry committee assigned to examine the defendant in the case involving the deaths of members of a family in New Cairo.
According to the report, the committee placed the defendant under medical observation for 15 days and conducted the examinations, interviews, and tests it deemed necessary before submitting its findings to the court.
Defendant Found Free of Mental or Psychological Disorders
The medical committee concluded that the defendant did not suffer from any mental or psychological disorders, according to the report submitted to the court.
The committee also concluded that the defendant had been in full possession of his mental faculties at the time of the alleged crime and was fully responsible for his actions at that time.
Court's Order for Psychiatric Examination
The court had previously ordered the appointment of a three-member committee of forensic psychiatry specialists to examine the defendant after placing him under observation and reviewing the case documents.
The committee was instructed to conduct any interviews and tests it considered necessary and prepare a medical report and treatment records addressing whether the defendant suffered from any psychological or mental disorders.
The court also asked the committee to determine the nature, severity, and onset of any such disorders, if established, and whether they existed at the time of the incident and affected the defendant's perception or responsibility for his actions.
Trial Adjourned in Narges Family Case
The Cairo Criminal Court, convening in Fifth Settlement, had previously adjourned the trial of the defendant accused of killing his friend, his friend's wife, and their two daughters in the case known in the media as the “Narges Family Case.”
The first hearing also included a request by the victims' family's lawyer to file a civil claim seeking EGP 501,000 for each victim as temporary compensation for the damages resulting from the incident.
Defense Requests Forensic Examination
During the trial proceedings, the defense requested that the defendant be referred for forensic examination to determine the condition of his mental and psychological faculties and the extent of his responsibility for his actions at the time of the incident.
A representative of the Public Prosecution also read the referral order detailing the charges against the defendant and the circumstances of the case before the court continued its proceedings.
Defendant Referred for Criminal Trial
The Public Prosecution had ordered the defendant to face an expedited criminal trial following a 48-hour investigation after authorities were notified that the bodies of four members of the same family had been found in New Cairo with gunshot wounds after they had been reported missing.
Prosecutors visited the scene, examined the bodies, and ordered forensic autopsies. They also traced the victims' movements through surveillance cameras and requested police investigations, which identified the defendant as a friend of the victims.
Defendant's Statements During Investigation
During questioning, the defendant admitted to killing the victim, his wife, and their two daughters with prior intent, according to the investigation records.
The investigations stated that the defendant admitted luring the victim to the Katameya area and firing three shots at him before taking the key to his home and disposing of his body on a desert road.
He subsequently lured the victim's wife and two daughters after allegedly claiming that he had been involved in a traffic accident, with the stated purpose of getting them to leave the home so he could take its contents. He then shot them inside the vehicle, resulting in their deaths, according to the investigation records.
The defendant later went to the home, but the presence of the building's security guard prevented him from completing the alleged plan.
Investigations Examine Evidence
The defendant carried out a reenactment of the alleged crime, while investigators stated that his admissions were consistent with statements from witnesses who had been in contact with the victims shortly before their deaths.
The investigations also included examination of surveillance footage from shops and locations visited by the defendant and the victims around the time of the incident, as well as information obtained from telecommunications companies concerning whether the locations of the defendant and victims corresponded with the geographical areas connected to the crime scene.
