Authorities in Cairo have referred the current deputy head of the El-Shorouk Authority to trial over allegations of misappropriating sums of money and gold jewelry that had been entrusted to him for safekeeping.
According to the complaint, the accused received the money and gold from the complainant’s mother before the family traveled abroad. The items were reportedly handed over as a form of trust until their return.
The complainant stated that the decision to entrust the valuables to the accused was based on a longstanding relationship of trust, as the complainant’s mother had previously worked with him, creating a sense of confidence in his position and character.
However, after the complainant and his mother returned from their trip, the accused allegedly refused to return the entrusted items, claiming that they had been lost.
The incident was documented in a police report under case No. 20016 of 2025 (Basateen Misdemeanors), after which investigations were conducted, ultimately leading to the decision to refer the accused to trial.
