On a seemingly ordinary evening, a mother returned to her apartment in El-Moneeb, exhausted from a long day, hoping to embrace her two daughters. She was confronted with a horrific scene: her six-year-old daughter, Qamar, found lifeless with clear signs of strangulation and cuts, indicating a violent assault prior to her death.
The mother’s scream turned the once lively home into a crime scene. Security forces arrived immediately, securing the area and starting investigations, including reviewing surrounding surveillance footage.
Investigations revealed that the suspect, a 16-year-old boy, had sneaked into the apartment during the mother’s absence, assaulted Qamar, causing her death, and then fled. He was later arrested and taken for questioning, while the girl’s body was sent for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The mother, Fatma, works as a kitchen assistant and has been raising her daughters alone after separating from their father a year ago. She had left Qamar and her younger sister Farida, aged four, at home, unaware that a few hours away would result in such a tragedy.
Farida witnessed the horrifying events silently, adding another layer of tragedy to the young family’s life.
