Tragic Fire in Baigam, Shubra El-Kheima: Entire Family Dies After Phone Charger Sparks Blaze

A devastating fire in Baigam, Shubra El-Kheima claimed the lives of an entire family after a mobile phone charger caused an electrical short circuit.

A tragic incident struck the Baigam area in Shubra El-Kheima, Qalyubia Governorate, when a massive fire broke out in a residential apartment due to an electrical short circuit caused by a mobile phone charger. The blaze led to the death of an entire family, according to preliminary investigations.

Major General Ashraf El-Gendy, Director of Qalyubia Security, received a report from the Civil Protection Department about the fire. Several fire engines were dispatched to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to neighboring buildings. After intense efforts, the blaze was brought under control.

The victims were identified as:

  • Sara Osama Ibrahim (mother)

  • Norhan Osama Ibrahim (mother’s sister)

  • Youssef Bassam Hussein

  • Aysel Bassam Hussein

  • Rayan Bassam Hussein

  • Younes Mohamed (nephew)

The bodies were transferred to Nasser General Hospital under the supervision of the Public Prosecution, which launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.

Initial inspections revealed that the apartment was completely destroyed and that the victims died from smoke inhalation. Forensic experts are analyzing the scene to confirm the cause and origin of the short circuit.

Residents of Baigam expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the victims as a kind and respected family, and offered heartfelt prayers for their souls.
