The New Cairo Court has decided to postpone the trial of a defendant accused of assaulting a security guard inside a compound in the Fifth Settlement, setting the next session for April 21 to complete court recusal procedures.

The case stems from accusations that the defendant physically assaulted a security guard in an incident that sparked widespread debate, particularly amid conflicting accounts of what triggered the altercation.

In earlier statements, the defendant’s wife revealed that her husband had received serious threatening messages, including explicit threats targeting their 6-year-old daughter. She expressed shock and distress over the nature of these messages, describing them as incompatible with basic moral and religious values.

She also shared her perspective on the background of the incident, noting that other residents had previously filed complaints against the security guard involved, and that she had felt uneasy due to what she described as provocative behavior.

According to her account, the situation escalated on the day of the incident when a verbal altercation began involving the guard and a neighbor’s child, which quickly intensified.

She further stated that the neighbor intervened by filming the altercation rather than attempting to de-escalate it, which contributed to the tension surrounding the event.

While acknowledging that her husband was at fault for physically assaulting the guard, she described his actions as a reaction to prolonged pressure and repeated provocations.

She also mentioned that the family had submitted multiple complaints to the compound’s management via email regarding these disturbances, but received no effective response beyond automated replies.

The case remains under judicial review, with proceedings set to continue at the upcoming hearing.
