The Criminal Court of Shebin El-Kom in Monufia has postponed the trial of the killer of bride Kareema Saqr to tomorrow, following a request from the defendant’s lawyer to have him referred for psychiatric evaluation.
The victim’s lawyer presented his arguments alongside the prosecution, which demanded the harshest punishment after the killing of the wife and her unborn child. This is the second session in the case, four months after the marriage, while the victim was in her second month of pregnancy.
Forensic reports confirmed that the victim suffered repeated intentional blows to the chest, causing a fractured sternum, bleeding in the lungs and brain, and respiratory arrest leading to cardiac arrest, along with strong kicks to the abdomen resulting in the miscarriage.
The case is classified as intentional murder combined with a miscarriage crime, and under the law, the penalty for the accused is death by hanging. Monufia security authorities received notification from Quesna Police Station, filed a report, and the prosecution is conducting investigations.
