The Cairo Economic Court has postponed the trial of media presenter Ahmed Ragab, who faces charges of insulting and defaming artist Badria Talata on social media, to a hearing scheduled for March 25. The move follows a formal complaint filed by the artist’s legal team.
Investigators charged the presenter with defamation and insult after he posted misleading and harmful video clips, exploiting claims made by TikToker Marwa Bent Mubarak to disparage the artist.
In a related case, the court also postponed the hearing of the accused in spreading rumors that Badria Talata was involved in an organ trafficking ring to February 28 for judgment.
Among the controversial videos, the presenter posted a clip showing artist Wafaa Amer engaged in charitable work, but labeled it misleadingly as “The Lost Child,” which prompted the legal complaint.
