A recent video circulating on social media caused widespread concern among Alexandria residents, claiming that a beggar sitting outside a school in El-Montaza district was killing and eating pets and had allegedly assaulted a young girl. The disturbing claims spread rapidly online, prompting public outrage.

Following the controversy, Egypt’s Ministry of Interior launched an investigation and confirmed that no official complaints had been filed regarding the incident. Authorities identified the woman who shared the video, revealing that she had done so out of fear without verifying its authenticity or consulting law enforcement.

Police were able to locate and identify the beggar featured in the clip. Investigations revealed that he is mentally unstable and had been living near the school for several days. Local residents were seen providing him with food and assistance out of compassion.

The ministry confirmed that the man has since been transferred to a mental health care facility to receive proper treatment and supervision. Officials emphasized the importance of empathy toward individuals with mental illness and urged the public not to spread misinformation.

The statement also warned against publishing unverified videos or rumors, noting that such acts can cause unnecessary panic and may result in legal action under Egyptian law. Citizens were encouraged to rely solely on official sources for accurate information.
