Tuk-Tuk Driver Arrested for Assaulting Motorist with Tire Wrench After Traffic Accident in Giza
Egyptian police arrested a tuk-tuk driver who assaulted a car driver with a tire wrench following a traffic dispute in the Talbiya area of Giza.
Egypt’s security authorities have uncovered the circumstances surrounding a viral video circulating on social media showing a man standing on top of a car, verbally and physically assaulting its driver and causing visible damage to the vehicle in Giza.
Investigations revealed that no official complaint had been filed initially. However, upon inspection, the car was found to have sustained damage, and its driver — who suffered minor injuries — stated that the incident occurred on October 4th in the Talbiya Police Department area, when a tuk-tuk driver collided with his car, leading to a heated altercation.
According to the driver, the tuk-tuk driver attacked him using a tire wrench, causing injuries before climbing onto the car and damaging it.
After legal procedures were taken, police arrested the suspect, a tuk-tuk driver residing in the same district, along with three of his relatives who tried to hide the weapon and resist arrest. The officers managed to control the situation without escalation.
The suspects later confessed to committing the assault, and legal action was taken as the case was referred to the Public Prosecution for investigation.
